Characteristics

The Audiovisual Library will provide, from anywhere inside the Telematics Park and through top-notch telematic and network infrastructures - including proprietary redundant backbones -, access to the following audio and video content at speeds from 100 to 500 times higher than a common ADSL:
  • Over 100,000 (300TB) video and 40,000 audio titles under open licenses, primarily in English, many of them as original quality or source, and ready for commercial or noncommercial re-use.
  • Over 50,000 video and 10,000 audio titles under proprietary licenses from big blockbuster successes or from World, European and Italian heritage, through telematics access to archives in DVD or CD.
Access to the above listed contents will be provided exclusively within the park, and not over the Internet, with few exceptions.
  • Target Audience: Local access will be free for small and medium-sized producers, students, researchers, journalists and citizens of Europe, Italy and the Lazio region up to 500Gbytes of local traffic per month.
  • Commercial Target: producers with a turnover exceeding 4 million euros will pay for access to most Audiovisual Archive services.
  • Language: content from around the world, with an emphasis on Italian and English languages, and European, Italian and regional (Lazio) content.
  • Format: contents in digital format, with and without DRM, and content in CD/DVD or Blu-Ray. Where possible, the original version at full resolution will be accessible.
  • Selection: content will be selected according to their cultural value, potential demand for reuse and enjoyment, or opening of licensing/terms of use.
  • Public workstations: the Audiovisual Archive spaces will offer about 60 workstations for public consultation; 15 video editing workstations with fiber connection to use cloud computing and centralized storage.
